Convincing Attempts Gone Awful
There was one young woman with audibly curly hair
Muscle and sinew creating perfect order
All the composites of contemporary beauty
In cursive harmony
She was light stepping
Seemingly pulled along by a secret breeze
A demanding nature was her only flaw
And it was a big one
She was nothing unless she was right about something
Entrapped by her prettiness
Most believed everything she said
But she didn’t want to chance it
So intent was her desire to convince
She utilized her body, motion and scent to claim victory
Who can deny that wisdom?
Some people need to convince
And some people need convincing
I once believed I’d get better treatment
If I convinced my brother to like me
Once I convinced him
My troubles were over!
I crawled to his bed late at night
Where he snored loudly
You awake? I whispered
No
You asleep? I whispered
Yes, he said
Completely
Thrilled! I began my brainwashing
You will treat your brother with kindness and respect
You will not get mad at him anymore
And you will let him get away with anything he wants
I kept it up for an hour
Throwing in subtle changes
You will not throw water on him… You will give him money
You will let him see your girlfriend’s boobs
I hit the sack feeling like a seven-year old Houdini
Who could charm the blood from Dracula
It was all in the convincing!
The next day as I left the house
He doused me with a bucket of water
Pushed me down into the grass laughing
Did you think I’d fall for that crap? He snickered
You’re an IDIOT!
He convinced me
There would always be people who hated me
No matter how badly I felt I needed to convince them otherwise
That’s why I didn’t fall for the woman with the audibly curly hair
She and I were exactly the same
Except on the outside
She was beautiful
